President & CEO Mike Winn
Mike Winn is the president of Michael Winn Associates, a Sacramento-based land development and planning company. For 30 years, he has been an active California homebuilder, first with his family business, Winncrest Homes, and then later in his career with Lennar Communities and Reynen & Bardis Communities.
During that period, his versatile management skills extended to land acquisition, architecture, marketing and site development throughout greater Sacramento and the Central Valley. He currently focuses his professional efforts on the entitlement and pre-development aspects of both master-planned and urban infill properties.
His contributions to the North State BIA have twice earned him Builder of the Year recognition. He has collaborated on homebuilder issues ranging from construction code reform to regional planning policies while serving as the chairman of several committees, including the Board of Directors in 2008. In that same year, he was inducted by his peers into the California Homebuilding Foundation’s Hall of Fame.
At CBIA, he has been a member of the Utility, Climate Change and Government Affairs committees. He also serves on the Executive Committee, the Revenue Sharing Task Force, and the PCBC Board of Directors. He takes an active role in advocacy efforts at the Capitol on behalf of the state’s land developers, homebuilders and trade associates.
After graduating from Harvard in 1976, he earned a master's degree in urban planning from the University of Massachusetts. He resides with his wife, Karen, in East Sacramento and has three adult children.
He became CFO/Secretary for the CBIA in 2009 and Chairman in late 2010. He also became CBIA's President & CEO in 2011 and is CBIA's Immediate Past Chairman.
