Robert Rivinius - President & CEO

Robert Rivinius has served for 28 years as President and Chief Executive Officer of the California Building Industry Association, an organization of 7,000 member firms, representing the home building industry at the state level. The main functions of the organization are governmental affairs, public affairs, member services, and producing PCBC - The Premier Building Show, one of the 150 largest trade shows in the nation.

A graduate of the California State University, Sacramento School of Business and Public Administration, Rivinius has received the Outstanding Alumnus award from the Business School and the Distinguished Service award from the Alumni Association. Rivinius holds a certificate in International Business from the American Graduate School of International Business, and his thirty-five year career in organizational management includes serving as President of the Greater Los Angeles World Trade Center Association.

Rivinius has served on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Association Executives, which granted the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation to him in 1978. He has also served as President of the National Association of Home Builders Executive Officers Council and as President of the Sacramento Society of Association Executives, which in 1985 named him Association Executive of the Year. In addition, he served as President of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Sacramento.

In 1987 Governor George Deukmejian appointed Rivinius to the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges, which at the time had 1.5 million students on 108 campuses. He was reappointed by Governor Wilson and served as President of the Board in 1993.

Rivinius currently serves on the Board of Directors of HomeAid America, a national organization dedicated to building shelters for the temporarily homeless. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Foundation. In June, 2004 he was inducted into the California Building Industry Hall of Fame.
