Free Compliance Courses on Residential Fire Sprinkler Mandate
The California State Fire Marshal is hosting a series of 21 free courses that offer compliance training on the new residential fire sprinkler mandate that takes effect in 2011.
The first two classes are set for June 1 at the Maidu Community Center in Roseville and June 2 at Veteran's Memorial Center in Davis. Both courses will run from 8 a.m. to noon.
Classes will continue throughout the summer and early fall throughout the state.
Topics to be covered include an overview of the 2010 CRC, building plans, automatic fire sprinkler systems, residential care facilities, terminology, laws and regulations and much more. There will also be a question and answer session. Participants will receive an 86-page handout as well as a CD of course materials.
Classes will be taught by Kevin Reinertson, division chief of Cal Fire; Bruce Lecair, western regional manager for the National Automatic Sprinkler Association; and Steve Hart, a consultant with National Automatic Sprinkler IP-Fund.
