Safety Material Available To All Members
CBIA recently mailed safety materials to all participating trade contractors and builders in the Association’s workers compensation program with State Fund. The material addresses the specific claim history that the CBIA member/policyholders experienced in 2010. This same information in now available to any interested member company.
State Fund recently provided CBIA with detailed loss information that indicated that 79 percent of the claim costs for the program in 2010 were due to lacerations. The medical and lost time for those claims amounted to $1.4 million. As a result of the severe increase in cuts and lacerations on the job site, CBIA will focus efforts this year on educating members and employees on methods for mitigating the risk of such injuries. A second pamphlet addresses sprains and strains, the second highest numbers of injuries suffered by the home building industry.
